The trick will be not to give it to your loving sister because she does not want to be sick with it over the holidays...which strangely seems to be her holiday tradition.

One of my mother's recipes for fighting back is to cut an onion in half and place it in the room you are sleeping in to absorb the germs. It may also encourage you to dream of eating onion soup - the very thought of which has medicinal value.) She also suggests putting slices of onions and garlic in a sock and wrap it around your neck. The fumes will kills the germs, the smell will cause people to keep their distance (thus cutting done on the possibility of reinfection) and you will be so overcome by the unplesantness of it all, that the cold will seem minor in comparison. Hope you feel better soon.

Eat hot chicken soup. Homemade is best, but you can doctor up a can of broth with carrots, onion, celery, freshly-ground pepper, etc.
Then rest in bed, drink lots of fluids and blog on!
