I DO want to talk about the senate race. I feel that we, as both a state and country, still have issues with race, class and gender. I think Martha Coakley was caught in a typical female double bind. If you show feelings, you’re too emotional and undependable for the job. If you don’t, you’re stiff and cold…to the point of criticizing how thin her lips are and how small her eyes!!!

Does anyone else think that a few conservative talk show hosts have tapped into fears, anger and unconscious misogyany and used them to rile people up? What happened to our values? What about a rape victim’s right to info on the pill? What about the right to health care? Are these only for the rich and powerful?

And, who is Scott Brown? The one in the beat up pickup truck? Or the one who owns five homes, including one in Aruba? Are we sending another tall, handsome, rich, entitled white man to represent us? or his millionaire buddies? He doesn’t even want to regulate the banking and insurance industries who are again giving out billions in bonuses.

I’m feeling despair…trying not to…can’t find the brighter side today.
