June 19, Oklahoma City
We spent the night in a Comfort Inn Motel. The fan had to be on all night to cool off the room and the headboard fell off! Not my fault!
We had “supper” in the restaurant next door, and then hit the hay.
It’s 9:14 a.m. now and we are beginning to get ready to go north to Will Rogers Memorial Park. Tonight we’ll stay in a State Park in East Oklahoma.
On turnpike to Tulsa by 11:30 a.m. (Stopped to get $$ at Bank America and to buy jeans and a sweatshirt.) We will visit Will Rogers home and memorial and have a wonderful time. Weather is clear, sunny, about 92 degrees and humid!
“Ok – Oklahoma!” We both like this state! We’re listening to a local cowboy station. Yahoo!
It’s time for postcards!
Day 1 and 2 of your road trip made me wish I was young and carefree again. But your musings about “Mesa hair”, Texas rain, Stuckey’s food, and the uncomforts of Comfort Inn put it all in perspective. So what about you, would you want to do a road trip at this point in your life?
I would make the trip again in a minute, if I had a lot more time, a very comfortable car and lots of cash to stay in fabu spots along the way. We never really “saw” where we were or throroughly enjoyed each spot, as we were always moving on to the next one. You will see in the next few missives that we did spend more time in Tennessee, but then just kept on truckin. But you have inspired me to write a summary and wish list at the end of the road. See you there! 🙂
