If Only I Could Have Some Ooh La La Too!

My mother’s side of the family is all French. Actually, French Canadian… from Trois-Rivières — (Three Rivers, Quebec) but presumably we have roots on the continent of Europe, if you go back far enough.

Jamie Cat Callan - Ooh La La!Unfortunately, I know very little of my French geneology… but I think I’ve got a bit of something I can trace back to the streets of Pareee…. Which makes it all the more significant that I read this latest book by a blogging friend of mine, Jamie Cat Callan: Ooh La La!: French Women’s Secrets to Feeling Beautiful Every Day… publication date is set for May 28, 2013.  Here’s a line or two from the book description on Amazon.

French women seem to have a special knack for life’s most important things–food, love, raising children. And in matters of beauty and style, they appear to be at an unfair advantage. But the good news is that everything French women know can be learned. …

French women are not born more attractive than anyone else. They simply learn at a very young age how to feel beautiful, confident, and sexy, inside and out.

I must have more of the Irish side of my family on the outside… because feeling beautiful, confident and sexy isn’t my normal facade. But Jamie swears this is a behavior you can learn. So I shall buy the book, read the book and learn from the book. And once that’s done, watch out world! Who knows what transformations will occur!

Do you think having wine with every meal has anything to do with their outlook?!

Merci beaucoup for the wonderful post! And Daffyhill–yes, wine brings the French a lot of joie de vivre! It’s true. Plus, walking everywhere, dinner parties, and the belief that less is more and that simple pleasures are the best. Anyone can have a little ooh la la in their lives with just a little change in thinking. Jamie

Bonjour! I am here via the lovely Jamie, and I’m very excited for this book…
I can also say, form my own experience, that this can indeed be learned. I always looked up at my beautiful mother as having this ooh la la…she was witty, feminine, flirtatious, and full of joie de vivre…
Slowly I began to realize that, she too, trained herself to be more elegant…and “bien de sa peau”…true beauty can only reside in the heart…but when one has it already, it serves as the springboard to everything else…
Have a wonderful day!
