Save Big Bird, Kick Romney Out Of The Coop

Save Big Bird!I’ve been listening to the politicians rattle on for months, now. And I am bored. Same drivel over and over and not a chance anything will ever get done. But I will stay engaged, at least enough to vote. And I will vote —for Big Bird, i.e. the candidate who won’t slash the budget of NPR to $0. !!

I’ve been listening and watching the talking heads…. in the last debate Romney was asked, “How will you pay for the increase in defense spending you are planning?” (Billions and billions of $$$$) And he answered he would get rid of subsidies for programs like NPR and Big Bird!!! (The annual subsidy for NPR is $450 million! – a teeny, weeny portion of the military budget… one talking head said it was equal to what the military spends in 6 hours!) (Hmmm…. as I have all these obscure facts, I guess I’m not so bored with it all.)

So I’ll watch the VP debate coming up and all the talking heads… and I’ll do my part to save the large yellow bird from extinction. What about you?

That’s just me saying.

I think it is almost impossible for politicians to stay in touch with reality. I don’t think either politician appreciates what’s really happening out here in the real world. But it’s the system we have, so I will have to deal with it. I will be voting but don’t know who will get my vote. I am still undecided, but I am leaning towards Truman.

Sesame Street executives have issued a statement saying they want out of the debate. They are a non partisan, non political entity.
